Cancer - Causes, Treatment and Diet
Other 20% of cancer are caused by ionizing radiation , ultra-violet radiation, air pollution and such harmful habits as alcohole intake, low physical activity and some others.
Smoking
Smoking is the main cause for lung cancer. Smoking can also lead to cancer of oral cavity, throat, gullet, kidneys and bladder. Influence of polluted air on development of lung canceris in 30 times less than smoking. A smoker voluntary swallows in himself the most polluted air.
In cities air is polluted by cancerogenic substances exhausted by cars and plants. Poisonous substances are formed as a result of combustion of oil products and coal. The same carcinogens are formed as a result tobacco combustion, and their concentration in cigaret smoke is hundreds times higher than air pollution in any industrial city.
The risk of development of blood cancer at an early age is increased for children whose mothers smoked during pregnancy.
Alcohol
Alcohol intake upsets hormonal balance of an organism and is an additional negative factor. Cancer of mammary glands in women can be caused by hormonal disbalance provoked by smoking, alcohol intake, early sex with intake of oral contraceptives and numerous abortions.
Too Hot Food
It i scientifically proven that such harmful habit as drinking too hot tea or coffee can be the cause of stomach cancer. The chronic burn of stomach internal layer which takes place for a long time can promote malignant degeneration of stomach cells.
Bacteria and Viruses
A chaotic way of life leads to increase in number of virus diseases which under certain circumstances can develop malignant tumors. For example, viruses of papilloma cause cancer of cervix of the uterus and are carried sexually. This illness is not developed in men and they are only virus carriers. The virus can live for a long time in an organism of a woman before developing a tumor and it is possible to discover it by means of a simple test. This disease can be easily cured if diagnosed early.
Influence of Sunshine
The skin and melanoma cancer cases sharply increase after summer holidays spent
in tropical countries. The white-skinned and fair-haired people are especially at risk
and to majority of them excessive sunbathing is harmful. It is impossible to rely on sunblocks as they only prevent an external burn of skin but let in sunshine with short wave length which sharply increases risk of development of an extremely dangerous melanoma.
Stress
Stressful conditions of life and negative events destroy immune system of an organism, weaken
its protective functions. So stress factor can promote development of malignant tumors or acceleration of their growth.
Cancer Treatment
The main methods of cancer treatment are surgery followed by chemotherapy or radiotherapy.
Chemotherapy represents the main type of a medicamentous cancer therapy. There are some other methods of treatment which, strictly speaking, also are chemotherapeutic, for example hormonal therapy and immunotherapy, but the term "chemotherapy" specifically means treatment by cytotoxic medications, i.e. breaking process of reproduction of cancer cells.
The huge advantage of chemotherapy before other methods such as surgical intervention or radiotherapy is that it affects all cells in the organism.
Diet For Cancer
Diet for cancer implies the use of food which suppresses tumor growth and exclusion of products which stimulate tumoral process.
For normalization of carbohydrate metabolism they should be supplied slowly and constantly. Vegetables, porridges, rough ground bread are traditionally considered as source of such carbohydrates. All these foods contain a large amount of cellulose which promotes clarification of intestines.
On the contrary, easily digestible carbohydrates (sweets, confections, white bread) can stimulate tumor growth as they are quickly absorbed by its cells and supply them with energy necessary for the process of cell division.
Therefore all sweets must be excluded from the diet of a cancer patient.
Glucose, either orally or in injections, is strictly prohibited as it promotes fast tumor growth.
As to sweet fruit and berries which contain rather high amount of simple sugars, they also have other biologically active substances which promote suppression of tumor growth. Nevertheless,
it is better to give preference to less seet fruit and berries.
Proteins are necessary for existence of a human body, they can be included in
diet at a cancer in the form of chicken, low-fat grades of fish, sour-milk products,
cottage cheese. It is recommended to avoid (or to limit the use to 1-2 times in a
week) red meat especially fat.
It is discovered that such meat promotes production of insulin which stimulates growth of
malignant tumors.
Fats also should be present in a diet for cancer but mainly in the form of vegetable oil
which stimulates the correct metabolic processes.
It is very important to observe the following recommendations:
1) Avoid overeating - excessive food will feed the tumor. Meals should be taken5-6 times a day but in small portions.
2) Exclude from the diet fried, smoked, pungent, salty and tinned food, sweets and sweet aerated drinks, pies, cakes and confectionary; completely exclude alcohol, strong tea and coffee;
3) Meat should be boiled or steamed, red meat only low-fat, 2 times a week, no more;
4) Fish also only low-fat, boiled or stewed, 1-2 times a week;
5) Vegetables should to be eaten daily, 400-500 g of different vegetables; part of them should be eaten fresh; but as not all patients can digest big quantity of fresh vegetables, it is quite possible to steam or boil them;
6) Eat fruit and berries every day: apples, oranges, berries and so on. Fruit should be eaten at least 20 minutes before meals but not during or after meals.
7) Drink a glass of freshly squeezed fruit and vegetable juice every morning half an hour before meals.
8) Eat different porridges every morning
9) All food should be freshly cooked as dishes which already stood in a refrigerator may contain some cancerogenic substances.
10) Consult the doctor if you decided to take vitamins or any other remedies .
Cancer is a serious illness and it is necessary to treat it in all possible ways including diet.
Anticarcinogenic herbs: rose-bay (leaves), burdock (root), plantain, birch (leaves), dog-rose, red clover (flowers), ginger ( root), aloe vera, dill, mint, rosemary, turmeric.
Food with anticarcinogenic effect:
fruit (avocado, dates, kiwi, grapefruits, strawberry, oranges, raspberry, water-melon),
vegetables (all types of cabbage, eggplants, garden radish, turnip, pumpkin, tomatoes, pepper , garlic, greens, onions, parsley, soya, ginger),
nuts (apricot kernels, almonds, filbert, walnut, Brazilian nut, sunflower and pumpkin seeds, flax seeds),
fish (herring, mackerel, tuna, sardines),
sea vegetables, green tea,
grain ( brown rice, buckwheat),
oil (olive, linen).
Food blocking metastases: fish (mackerel, herring, cod), cabbage of all sorts, garlic, all bright yellow and bright green vegetables.
Hypertension - High Blood Pressure
Blood pressure 150-180 (systolic)/90-100 (diastolic) is considered moderately high.
Pressure over 180/100 bears deadly threat for blood vessels.
Small ruptures of blood vessels can cause formation of clots of blood and exclusion from blood circulation millions of cells , whereas the rupture of a large vessel can lead to paralysis and death.
Influence of Kidneys
One of functions of kidneys is control of arterial pressure. When it is not enough oxygen, they secret a special factor which rises pressure and by that increases oxygen supply of heart.
As vitamin E reduces need for oxygen, it is especially important for people with elevated pressure. Deficiency of choline or vitamins C or Е causes hemorrhages in kidneys and oxygen starvation of cells because of reduced blood supply.
Steady increase in pressure can be the result of rather slight kidneys illnesses.
So in all cases of a hypertension it is necessary to pay special attention to a condition of kidneys.
Influence of Choline
Choline is necessary for synthesis of lecithin and utilization of fats, its insufficiency can
cause hypertension which is especially widespread among people with excessive
weight, suffering from diabetes, nephrite and/or heart diseases. However, weight reduction not always leads to decrease in arterial pressure.
Sodium and Potassium
Insufficiency of potassium as the reason of a hypertension is investigated little. However
prevalence of hypertension in the world is extremely high, and now often the illness develops at younger age because of excessive consumption of salt.
Reduction of salt consumption (sodium) has been for a long time a successfully applied method to lower arterial pressure, but rigid restriction of salt can be dangerous, and this last approach is possibly not the wisest.
Amounts of sodium and potassium in blood are interconnected, and surplus of one leads to
loss with urine of the other.
Healthy kidneys keep sodium much more effectively, than potassium, which
it is quickly comes out with urine. But when kidneys are injured, this nutritious
substance is lost even quicker. If the food is rich in potassium or potassium is taken in tablets, high arterial pressure falls to normal provided that increase is caused by only excessive consumption of salt.
To ensure supply of potassium people suffering from hypertension should eat more green leaf vegetables - parsley, lettuce, dill and so on. As a temporary measure it is possible to take 1-2 g of potassium chloride at each meal if only digitalis, verospiron or other potassium-saving drugs were not prescribed.

GASTRITIS - SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENT
Gastritis is an inflammation of a mucous (internal) layer of stomach. There are two main types of gastritises: with the lowered and increased acidity of gastric juice. Some cases of gastritis can proceed with normal acidity.
The illness when a stomach doesn`t secret hydrochloric acid at all is called anacidic gastritis.
Causes of Gastritis
1. Taking of some drugs for a long time;
2.Bad chewing of food, the use of poor-quality products (including, c preservatives), love to hot and marinaded dishes, long breaks between meals;
3. Helicobacter Pylori - a bacterium which settles in a stomach and is often carried by cockroaches;
4. "Harmful" habits - alcohol and smoking;
5. Modern food: refined cereals and oils, presence of preservatives, emulsifiers, hormones and antibiotics.
Acute gastritis can be caused by alcohol intake, poor-quality products, drugs, a metabolic disorder, diseases of liver and kidneys.
Symptoms of acute gastritis
Suddenly there is a weight or pain in the pit of the stomach, an eructation with a smell of the eaten food or rotten egg.
In 1-2 days even without treatment all manifestations of gastritis pass, there comes an absolute recovery.
Chronic gastritis
This is a very widespread disease. It is discovered in a third of cases of diseases of digestive organs. Chronic gastritis is an inflammation of a mucous membrane of a stomach which has long duration. Chronic gastritis has long negative impact on an organism.
There are the following types of chronic gastritises:
chronic helikobakter gastritis (about 65 % of all meeting gastritises);
chronic autoimmune gastritis (about 18 -20 % of all gastritises);
idiopathic chronic gastritis (unknown origin);
jet chronic gastritis;
special forms of chronic gastritis.
The most widespread type of chronic gastritis is caused by bacteria of Helicobacter Pylori which gets to a stomach and can live there long time, damaging the cover of a stomach and causing gastritis.
Symptoms of chronic gastritis
Decrease in appetite, unpleasant taste in a mouth, an eructation, nausea and even vomiting. The most frequent symptoms are pressure and morbidity in the pit of the stomach after food, heartburn. Pains and feeling of weight in the pit of the stomach after meals are sometimes possible.
Anacidic gastrites can have the signs of irritation of small intestine caused by bacteriums which are not killed by hydrochloric acid which is not secreted at this type of gastritis.
Gastritis treatment
Gastritis treatment always begin with a diet.
It is recommended to observe the following rules:
The food and drinks shouldn't be very cold or hot;
The firm food should always be chewed carefully;
Meals should be taken several times a day (not less than 5), but in small portions.
Bacterium Helicobacter Pylori is rather difficult to cure. The scheme of treatment of a helikobater includes some antibiotics and lasts 10-14 days.
Heartburn and a sour eructation are treated with anti-acid medications.
When there is the lack of acid secretion, the medications of hydrochloric acid should be taken during meals.
Motilium is recommended by gastroenterologists for improvement of impellent function of a stomach. For healing of a mucous membrane of a stomach gastroenterologists can recommend such medications as carnitine - 20 % solution and sea-buckthorn berries oil. In some cases of gastritis injections of cyanocobalamine (Vitamin B12) can be helpful.
Different herbs can also be used to treat gastritis. These are St.-John's wort, camomile ( with increased acidity of gastric juice) and plantain (with lowered acidity).
In cases with normal acidity the composition of these herbs can be used. Extracts of herbs should be taken 20-30 minutes before meals 3-4 times a day.
Diet
For gastritis with the lowered secretion (with the lowered or normal acidity) the diet consists of various well boiled porridges, especially buckwheat, oats and corn, low-fat meat (even fried, but without a firm crust), low-fat fish, all fresh and not too sour sour-milk products, stale bread, crackers, vegetables and fruit - boiled and raw, milk, boiled eggs, fruit and vegetable juice, butter, tea of coffee, cocoa. Meals should be taken not less than 5 times a day, best of all in mashed form.
For gastritis with increased secretion of a stomach, the diet, which neutralises excessive secretion of hydrochloric acid is recommended: dried bread or crackers, not rich cookies, milk, kefir, yogurt, not sour and fresh cottage cheese, cream, curdled milk;steamed or boiled low-fat fish and meat. Vegetables and greens must be well boiled or in mashed form. From meat products - dietary sausages, low-fat ham and a gammon, smoked low-fat fish. From fats possibly the use of butter and vegetable oil (sunflower, olive). It is not recommended to use sauces. Spices are completely excluded - a little cinnamon, a bay leaf is allowed. It is not recommended to eat fried food. It is possible to drink tea, cocoa. Coffee is not recommended.
Forbidden to use: alcohol - completely, newly-baked or rich confectionery, rolls, firm cheeses, rye bread, bean (peas, haricot, lentil), thick macaroni, fried eggs, fat meat and/or fish, a canned food, spices, fried potatoes and French fries, cabbage, turnip, a garden radish, onions, fruit with peel and all fat and pungent food.
